Type a number into any box and the others update instantly. The converter uses the legal Puerto Rico cuerda of exactly 3,930.395625 square meters, so it is accurate enough to check a listing, a deed or a survey. A second converter below turns a price per cuerda into a price per acre and per hectare, which is how you compare listings that quote different units.

How it works
Every unit is converted through square meters, using exact definitions:
- 1 cuerda = 3,930.395625 square meters, the legal definition in Puerto Rico
- 1 acre = 4,046.8564224 square meters (the international acre)
- 1 hectare = 10,000 square meters
- 1 square foot = 0.09290304 square meter
That makes 1 cuerda equal to 0.97122 acre and 0.39304 hectare, and 1 acre equal to 1.02963 cuerdas. Prices work the other way around: because a cuerda is about 3 percent smaller than an acre, a price per cuerda is about 3 percent lower than the same land's price per acre. So $23,000 per cuerda is about $23,682 per acre. When two listings quote different units, convert both to one unit before comparing.
Results are rounded for display (four decimals for cuerdas, acres and hectares, whole numbers for square meters and square feet). For background on where the cuerda comes from, the common listing errors and a table of standard farm sizes, see the companion guide Cuerdas, hectares and acres.
Try it on a real property
The Cayey estate described on this site is about 100 acres, roughly 103 cuerdas in two parcels. Enter 100 in the acres box and the converter shows 102.96 cuerdas and 40.47 hectares. At its asking price of $2,375,000, reduced from $2,500,000, that is $23,750 per acre, which the price converter turns into about $23,067 per cuerda. The property is also offered on a furnished long-term lease at $15,000 a month or as a lease with option to buy, owner financing is available, and property tax runs about $990 a year.
